Week Stay in Cabin in the Chiricahuas of Arizona

Generously offered by BMC alum (2019) and activist Amy Wheeler Harwood - a getaway cabin!

Spend a week in an off-grid, rustic cabin in the Chiricahua mountains of Arizona on the homelands of Chiricahua Apache people. The house sits at the entrance to Horseshoe Canyon, one of the more wild, gorgeous, and quiet areas of this beloved Chihuahua desert mountain range. The property backs up to the Chiricahua Wilderness and gives walk-off access to trails. We are half an hour drive to Portal, famous for some of the world's best birding, and an hour to the US-Mexico border. The artist enclave of Bisbee is also a short drive. We are a three-hour drive from Tucson. We will work with auction winners to find an amenable week. All but the last two weeks of the year are possible. Details about the house:

  • The house is fully-equipped with solar power, well water, propane, and a woodstove, but no AC.
  • The kitchen is full-function. The bedroom has a king bed and there are two pull-out sofas. The house has one bathroom with a shower/bath.
  • Some cellular carriers reach the cabin, but several do not. There is no wi-fi. A phone for emergency use is available.
  • The house is not ADA-compatible. Dogs ok.
